Cisco asegura que el crecimiento del tráfico global IP se debe a cuatro factores:

2. Más usuarios de Internet: Para el año 2015, habrá casi 3 mil millones de usuarios de Internet, más del 40% de la población mundial proyectada.
3. Velocidad de banda ancha más rápida: Se espera que el promedio de velocidad de banda ancha aumente cuatro veces, de 7 megabits por segundo en el año 2010 a 28 Megabits porsegundo en el año 2015.
4. Más video: Para el año 2015, 1 millón de minutos de video -el equivalente a 674 días- atravesarán Internet cada segundo.
